The Forest, a supernatural horror film released by Gramercy Pictures in January 2016 centers around a young woman who heads into Japan’s notorious Suicide Forest to find her missing twin sister, only to find herself confronted by terror.

The movie studio wanted a way to get millennials excited for the release of the film and launched a chatbot using Kik, a highly popular messaging app, to do so. Kik users were able to learn some of the plot line of the movie while getting to know the characters in an interactive game using chatbot technology.
